The Shelter

HOPE Animal Shelter is a no-kill, cage-free haven for abandoned dogs and cats awaiting adoption. We believe that all animals deserve gentle care, respect, dignity and a loving home.

Abandonment takes a huge toll on an animal.  Having a clean, loving place that emulates a home environment allows socialization and a smoother transition into a permanent home. These innocent souls will be well cared for both emotionally and physically during this trying time in their life.

    All they need is HOPE

We absolutely WILL NOT put to sleep any animal for lack of space.  The sick and injured ones will be nurtured and given veterinary care until they are adoptable.  Elderly animals or those with long term illnesses will be treated with dignity and well taken care of until they find good homes.

"The worst sin towards our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them, that's the essence of inhumanity." - George Bernard Shaw

Behavior issues are the biggest reason pets are abandoned. Behavior training for our dogs will be an integral part of the shelter. It will give the animals a much greater chance of adapting AND REMAINING in their adopted home.

Our Philosophy

HOPE Animal Shelter is built on the foundation of Ahimsa.

Ahimsa is a Sanskrit word whose literal meaning is “non-violence”. But it has an infinitely higher meaning.  It is a great spiritual force with a message of peace and selfless love.

Mahatma Gandhi used it specifically in the context of the way humans should behave toward animals – with kindness, gentleness, respect, and active non-violence.

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”  Gandhi

HOPE Animal Shelter proudly embraces the values of Ahimsa and will operate on its principles.

Our Mission
  • To foster respect for all animal life by providing a safe haven for unwanted animals in the form of a no-kill, no-cage shelter.
  • To provide an environment for the animals that allows optimal physical and emotional enrichment during their stay at the shelter.
  • To reduce euthanasia of unwanted animals by encouraging responsible adoptions, forming spay/neuter programs and educating the public.
